On Sunday 9th Nov we have been invited to attend the Remembrance parade which takes place in the town centre to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 1.
All Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & leaders are asked to attend in full uniform with smart trousers and shoes. Please do not turn up in Jeans, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
This is the outline plan for the Morning:
9:15am – Meet at St Mary’s so we are ready to go in.
9.30am – Service at the Minster of St Mary the Virgin commences
10.00am – Followed by a parade & march past through town centre to the
Forbury War Memorial for Remembrance Ceremony.
Shortly before 11am
– Remembrance ceremony & 2 min silence.
There will be a chance for organisations to lay wreaths after the 2 min silence. Personal wreaths can be laid after organisations have laid theirs.
Parade will be dismissed after Remembrance Ceremony has ended.
All roads that the parade will follow will be closed to all traffic from 10am.
